Goguo, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress and mayor of Lhasa City in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, said that in 2018, Lhasa has achieved citywide poverty eradication. The next step will be to continue assisting people in straitened circumstances, learn about their production and living conditions, and increase capital investment and employment assistance to them.

Tibet is a plateau farming and pastoral region. The pure land and pure water industry has great developing prospects. So, we shall lead the surplus labor force to work in the crop farming and livestock breeding industries, and our government departments should also formulate standards, guide people to participate in, ensure quality assurance, and promote industrial structure adjustments.

The tourism industry in Lhasa has developed very quickly, especially after the implementation of the Winter Tibet Tour policies. Last year, more than 20 million tourists visited Lhasa, generating an income of 28.2 billion yuan (4.2 billion US dollars). The prospects for the tourism industry are very promising. At present, there are more than 89,000 farmers engaged in the tourism industry, each of whom can earn 3,000 yuan (447 US dollars) per month and over 30,000 yuan (4,470 US dollars) per year. The quality of life for ordinary people has been greatly improved.
