Nestled in Madoi County, Golak Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, Ngoring Lake, one of the sources of the Yellow River, radiates a serene elegance amidst the vibrant hues of autumn.

Known as the “County of a Thousand Lakes,” Madoi is situated at an average elevation of 4,500 meters and constitutes the core zone of the Yellow River Source area within the Sanjiangyuan (Three-River-Source) National Nature Reserve.

In recent years, Golok has adopted an integrated approach to managing mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts while advancing key ecological initiatives such as protection and restoration efforts in the region. Consequently, the surface area of Ngoring Lake has increased by 117.4 square kilometers, and wetlands throughout the prefecture have expanded by 104 square kilometers.
