On September 1, at Sakya Monastery in Xigaze City, the Xizang Autonomous Region, monks convened to conduct the Vajrakilaya ritual. The ceremony features sacred dances dedicated to Vajrakilaya, which are believed to dispel obstacles, drive away malevolent forces, and confer benefits upon all beings.

According to historical accounts, the Vajrakilaya ritual at Sakya Monastery can be traced back to the 8th century, during the era of Guru Padmasambhava. This ritual continues to be one of the monastery’s most significant annual observances.
