Tibetan pigs in Nyingchi bring wealth to villagers

Mai Village, Orong Town, Mainling County, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, is located on the south bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River with an average elevation of 3,050 meters, and convenient transportation and beautiful scenery. It is a most suitable place for Tibetan pigs. 

When it comes to Tibetan pig, foodies may drool. Tibetan pig, who grow up by drinking spring water and eating mountain treasures, has crispy skin and tasty pork with low fat. It is not only a favorite food of Tibetans, but also more and more popular with foodies. 

In 2020, 59 villagers in Mai Village jointly invested 168,000 yuan and later received 2,125,300 yuan of government support funds to set up a cooperative to raise Tibetan pigs. In the breeding farm, Tibetan pigs run freely and forage freely, growing rapidly. 

Up to now, the cooperative breeding base covers an area of 1,600 square meters and the number of pigs has reached more than 525 heads. This year, it is expected that about 180 heads will become fully grown, and an estimated annual sales of 500,000 yuan will be achieved, in which 30% of the earnings will be used in the cooperative collective account for turnover,  and 70% will be used for dividends to the villagers.
