The First Lhasa International Cultural Tourism Expo in 2025, held concurrently with the “Foreign Trade Premium Products China Tour”, commenced in Lhasa, Xizang. This five-day event was a vibrant and dynamic occasion. At the entrance, a striking banner emblazoned with “Foreign Trade Premiums Exhibition and Sale” in bold yellow letters against a red backdrop immediately captured attention. At the booth, an Afghan merchant explained the intricate weaving techniques employed in handmade wool carpets in hesitant Chinese. Meanwhile, at the Bhutanese booth, throngs of visitors eagerly tried on the nation’s traditional attire…
Local specialties of Xizang also emerged as a prominent feature of the expo. In the section dedicated to intangible cultural heritage, artisans offered guidance to tourists on selecting Thangka paintings, while the Tibetan food sales area attracted even larger crowds. Staff members distributed butter tea to visitors, welcoming them with the words, “Enjoy it while it’s hot!”
Drolkar, a resident who had recently purchased two tins of Indonesian coffee, expressed her delight: “I initially came just to browse, but I was immediately captivated as soon as I stepped through the door. It is incredibly convenient to acquire high-quality foreign trade goods without having to travel abroad. An event like this, which allows for shopping and cultural experiences, holds significant value. I hope it continues to flourish.”
