Recently, residents in Lhasa, Xizang, celebrated the Bathing Festival. Each year, during the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, people across Xizang partake in a seven-day traditional folk festival of bathing, known as “Karma Rije” in the Tibetan Language. It is believed that when the Yaowang Star (Venus) appears in the sky, all bodies of water, whether rivers, lakes, or seas, acquire medicinal properties. Bathing during these seven days is thought to cleanse negative karma.
