The Ongkor Festival, also known as the “Bumper Harvest Festival,” is a traditional folk custom celebrated in Xizang and recognized as one of China’s intangible cultural heritages. “Ong” refers to crops, while “kor” means to circle. Thus, the term “Ongkor” describes the folk ritual of circling the yielding fields to celebrate the harvest. It’s a traditional Tibetan celebration that expresses hope for a successful upcoming harvest while praying for ongoing prosperity.
