Xizang is an important ecological safety barrier in China. It is one of the regions with the best ecological environment in the world, and also ranks among those with the highest biodiversity. From southeast to northwest, Xizang’s climate transitions successively from warm and humid to cold and arid; correspondingly, its natural ecology shifts through distinct belts that include forests, shrubs, meadows, grasslands, and deserts.
