More than 1,500 wild animals of 40 species, including snow leopards, Procapra przewalskii, desert cats, rock sheep and Tibetan brown bears, have been rescued by the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center since its establishment in 2008, and more than half of them have been released into the wild after recovering, the center said on September 28.

Qinghai is one of the regions with the richest distribution of rare and endangered species in China. At present, there are 605 species of vertebrates in Qinghai, among which 37 species are national first-class protected, such as snow leopards, Procapra przewalskii, Tibetan antelopes, wild yaks, and black-necked cranes, and 105 species are under second-class state protection. There are about 2500 kinds of wild plants distributed in the province, including 38 kinds of orchids and cordyceps under state key protection.
