- Two frostbitten Spanish mountaineers were successfully resuced by China's Tibet Mountaineering Team and arrived at the Camp One of Mt. Qomolangma on May 26.
- At 04:20 on May 25, 1960, three Chinese mountaineers Wang Fuzhou, Qu Yinhua and Gangbung conquered the world's highest peak Mt Qomolangma from the northern slope for the first time.
- The first Finnish female mountain climber has conquered Mt. Qomolangma on Monday after a month long climbing, reported Finnish media Monday.
- Nepali world cyclist Pushkar Shah scaled Mt. Qomolangma, the world's highest peak on Monday.
- Chinese civil mountaineers encountered bad weather in Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters) after they atop the seventh highest mountain on May 13, which caused three climbers died.
- Sir Edmund Percival Hillary, with Nepal's Tenzing Norgay Sherpa as the first climber to have reached the summit of Mt Qomolangma, passed away in 2008 at the age of 88.
