Monastery
- The Ganden Songsten Ling Monastery is the biggest monastery of traditional Tibetan Buddhism in Yunnan Province.
- The Chinese central government has earmarked more than 700 million yuan (about 102 million U.S. dollars) for the repair project of Tibetan monasteries since the 1980s.
- Qamba Buddha with 500 years history in Drepung Monastery, one of the three biggest monasteries in Lhasa had been recolored with golden powder on March 14th.
Activity
- Tens of thousands of Tibetans, dressed in traditional costumes, made pilgrimages to temples to pray for a peaceful and prosperous new year on Sunday, the first day of their traditional New Year.
- Feb 10 as December 27 on Tibetan calendar is the annually festival to worship the "Vajra Pestles" which can relieve disaster and pray for blessing.
- At least 70,000 Tibetan Buddhists gathered at a monastery in Lhasa Wednesday to celebrate a religious holiday and pray for good luck in the Tibetan New Year that begins Sunday.
School
- Perched on a hill, the whitewashed compound in the valley west of the Jinsha River in far-flung eastern Tibet, gleams under a sky that is unbelievably clear and blue.
- The Three Great Monasteries each had its own noted religious festivals: the "Lubum" festival for Drepung, the "Taktse Drupcho" Taktse Drupcho" for Ganden, and the "Blessing of the Dagger of Exorcism" for Sera.
The Others
- The Duliang Scripture is the "bible" for Tibetan craftsmen. It has strict rules for the size and proportion of Tangka and sculptures.
- The 14th Dalai Lama compelled the monks in India's Gaden Monastery to sign the pledge not to believe in Gyaiqen Xudain and drove away nine monks who refused to take an oath.
