Photo from CTIC shows the Tibetans are producing "Zetie".
Tibet is making efforts to rescue the "Zetie" craftwork skill, which has been identified as one of Tibet regional level intangible cultural heritage in August last year. "Zetie" as the unique skill in Lhoka owns the most difficult and complex technical process of Pulu weaving.
"Ze" means "Tsethang township" in Tibetan language, and "Tie" stands for "Tiema"(a kind of pulu).
At present, over 30 Tibetans are still engaged in weaving "Zetie" in Nedong ethnic hand-woven professional cooperative. Basong, director of the cooperative said:" The 'Zetie' products famous for the soft, durable, clear lines, easy cleaning, and good air permeability features become popular among the tourists at home and abroad." "With the help of Ngawang Tsomo, the successor of "Zetie" skill, our cooperative has trained 34 handicraftsmen which make a great contribution in protecting such kind of ancient skill," he added.
"Zetie" craftwork with thousand years of history can be traced back to AD 641, Tubo Tsenpo Songtsan married Princess Wencheng period.
With related staff three years' efforts, over 400 intangible cultural heritages including "Zetie" have been found during the survey in Tibet.
