China will spend 80 million yuan building Tibet's first infectious hospital.
The construction of the regional No. 3 People's Hospital with an area of 33.33 hectares will be launched late this year, and is expected to operate in 2011, said Yao Qingyuan, a leading official of the Tibet's Health Department.
During the years, China has input 650 million yuan in improving healthcare and medical emergency treatment system as well as rebuilding centers for disease control and prevention at the county or township levels in Tibet.
The regional government has also financed 120 million yuan to have equipped those health centers in counties and townships with basic medical facilities.
Meanwhile, the central and regional governments have allocated 49.78 million yuan on establishment of four prefectural and 41 county-level disease control centers in Tibet.
According to the 167th session of the Executive Meeting of the Standing Committee of the State Council, China plans to spend 685.65 million yuan on six projects concerning the improvement of medical and health conditions in Tibet.
These projects include upgrading the basic medical facilities in agricultural and pastoral areas and construction of hospitals for women and children.
