A 76.8-meter Pinus bhutanica in Medog County, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has been found, beating the previous record and becoming the tallest ever registered in the Chinese mainland, according to the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of the County.

According to the data, Pinus bhutanica is a tree species only distributed in the Eastern Himalayas, mainly in mountain rainforest and subtropical climate regions at an altitude of 1400-2500 meters. According to reports, on this 76.8-meter Pinus bhutanica, a variety of epiphytic protection plants and Medog endemic plants were found, showing that Medog County and the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon areas where the tree is located have extremely high conservation value and cultural significance.
