Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region established its first tumor hospital on Thursday in the regional capital of Lhasa, according to the municipal health commission.

The hospital covers an area of 23,700 square meters and holds 200 beds, with diagnosis and treatment departments including surgical oncology, medical oncology, gynecological oncology, and radiotherapy.

It has integrated functions of diagnosis, treatment, education, research, healthcare and rehabilitation, said the commission.

The hospital has signed cooperative contracts with the Sichuan Cancer Hospital in its neighboring province, which will send medical experts on a regular basis to Tibet for surgical operations, consultations, and teaching. Telemedicine and online instructions will also be carried out.
