11th Panchen Lama worships Buddha statue at Jokhang Temple

On the morning of June 13, the 11th Panchen Erdeni Choskyi Gyalpo went to Jokhang Temple to worship the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. He also held a series of Buddhist activities.

On that day, in accordance with religious rituals, the monks of Jokhang Temple held flags, Tibetan incense, and lined up on both sides of the main entrance of Jokhang Temple to welcome the 11th Panchen Lama.

Accompanied by heavy sounds of dharma instruments, the 11th Panchen Lama walked slowly into Jokhang Temple, holding a khata scarf to present to the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. He piously and solemnly bowed to the statue of the 12-year-old Buddha. With both hands clasped together, he led the public in reciting scriptures and praying for a good grain harvest and peace in the country.

Later, the 11th Panchen Lama sat on the throne and in front of the Sakyamuni Buddha statue, led the public in reciting scriptures. After chanting collectively, the 11th Panchen Lama blessed the crowds by touching their heads at the Jokhang Temple.
