According to the Go Association of Tibet Autonomous Region, the association of Go has been formally established in Lhasa and is the first such organization in Tibet.

Wang Bin, the president of the Go Association of Tibet Autonomous Region and the dean of the Lhasa Go Club, said the association acts as a bridge connecting Go lovers in Tibet and the rest of China as well as a platform.

Wang Bin said in 2015, they formed the Lhasa Go Club, with first the men’s team and then the women’s team. After three years of hard work, the Lhasa Pureland Team was upgraded to a Level A competitive level in 2018.

Go has a great foundation in Tibet. There’re over 10 schools in Lhasa with Go classes, with around 2,000 students involved in Go education, 90-percent of which are Tibetan students.
