Recently, white-tailed eagles, a first class nationally-protected species, were captured in a series of photos in Songba Valley of the Yellow River Valley, part of Guide County in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, northwest China. The improving ecological conditions in the region has attracted nationally-protected species such as swans and white-tailed eagles to winter here.
The white-tailed eagle, a large-sized raptor, was added to the IUCN’s (International Union for Conservational of Nature) 2012 red list of endangered species, and it’s a first class nationally-protected species in China. Its primary food source is fish, and its habitats are among lakes, rivers, coastal areas, islands, and ports, etc. In China, the white-tailed eagle is found mostly in areas such as Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang province, and Gansu province, etc.
According to experts, there’s about a dozen white-tailed eagles in Songba Valley of the Yellow River Valley, inside Guide County.
