Cham dance performed for blessing

On August 26, or the 15th day of the seventh lunar month in Tibetan Calender, annual Cham(an old song and dance tradition)dance was performed in Janye Monastery, Chongye County, Shannan City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region to pray for dispelling the disaster and prosperity for the next year.

Janye Monastery was founded in 11th century. It was first a monastery of Karma Kagyu Sect in Tibetan Buddhism and later changed to a Gelug Sect’s monastery until today.

Cham dance is a kind of religious art form.
