Black apples come from Nyingchi, southeast Tibet. With an average altitude of 3000 meters, year-round sunshine 2000 hours, extra-strong ultraviolet rays, average temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius and great night and day temperature difference , Nyingchi's black apples have a growth cycle up to 210 days, which is about 40 days longer than apples grown in plains.

What makes the apples black? Ma tianwei, a grower, explained that black apples have a very high content of OPC, besides, the region’s unique climate has given the apples a black appearance. Tibet’s natural conditions have also made the black apples less likely to be bothered by pests, contain more sugar, and have a better taste.
