The seventh annual Shangshung cultural tourism festival kicked off on July 28 in Ngari, southwest China's Tibet.
The festival is a landmark event boasting local historical tradition, folk culture and tourist characteristics of Ngari, and has been successfully held for six times so far.

In the opening ceremony, the rhythmic and graceful dance of "Xuan" won the attention of many viewers. It is understood that "Xuan" dance can be traced back to the period of ancient Shangshung civilization, and it was developed in the period of Guge Kingdom when it evolved as a kind of magnificent and solemn palace dance, and was passed down till today. With a history of more than a thousand years, the dance was listed as the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage on June 7, 2008.
