"As the first systematic social science survey report of contemporary Tibet, the Lhasa City Agricultural and Nomadic Areas People's Livelihood Development Survey Report (2017) has initiated the scientific process of research into people's livelihoods in Tibet and established an analytical framework and support of scientific data for studying the development of people's livelihoods in contemporary Tibet," said Ji Jianzhou, president of Tibet University, at a press conference for research results of the Mt. Qomolangma Research Institute of the university on May 24 in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet.

The report is the result of the first large-scale household survey on the development of people's livelihoods in Tibet's agricultural and nomadic areas. According to the principle of random sampling, a total of 746 households in 62 villages covering 2,833 residents in Lhasa were selected to be surveyed on four dimensions including residents' lives, public service, public security, and ecological civilization, which shows the reality and developmental changes of people's livelihoods in Lhasa's agricultural and nomadic areas.
