Tibetology
- In China's Tibetan studies, there is a Tibetologist who believes that books are source of his knowledge, and knowledge is source of his soul. Recently his new book Tibetan Studies in Three Dimensional Views was published.
- A seminar on Tibetan studies was opened in Eotvos Lorand University on June 2 to commemorate 225th anniversary of Korosi Csoma Sandor, celebrated Hungarian philologist and founder of Tibetology.
Tibetan Medicine
- As a kind of precious Tibetan medicine whose roots and root-like stems can be made into medicine or be eaten directly, Tahuang is distributed on the Himalayas Mountains of TAR and northeast Yunnan Provice.
- Caterpillar fungus, which literally means "winter insect, summer grass," is a parasite that attacks moth larvae. It slowly grows inside them until it kills and mummifies them, eventually producing a fruiting body that releases spores that infect other caterpillars.
History
- In 1956, I was employed by the Tibet Daily as a news photographer. During those early days, I witnessed many cases in which serfs suffered indescribably heavy manual labor and untold miseries.
- The veteran soldier is Fan Ming, 95. Fan whose name Ming was given by Chairman Mao Zedong has witnessed the history of Tibet's peaceful liberation and earned legendary titles such as "Founding General of China" and "Representative to the Panchen Lama's Headquaters."
Cultural Relics
- The Dongchang "Tibetan Tripitaka" Treasure Hall, a post-disaster renovation project was completed in Gyegu Township in quake-hit Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province, September 1.
- Norbulingka, meaning "Treasure garden" in Tibetan language, is located 2 km away to the west of the Potala Palace.
