Mountain park near North Korean border closed

Northeast China's Jilin Province has closed its mountain park near theNorth Korean border.

"To ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, our staff is conducting a comprehensive safety inspection of the Changbai mountain south scenic spot, which we have temporarily closed to the public," a notice read on the Sina Weibo account of the Jilin Provincial Tourism Development Committee on Wednesday night.

It won't be opened until potential hazards are removed.

Changbai Mountain is located on the border between China and North Korea and is considered the most famous mountain in Northeast China, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The park is usually popular in winter and rarely closes during the season.

North Korea conducted a nuclear test on September 3.

Jilin Province residents said they were rattled by the nuclear test-triggered earthquake.

China'sMinistry of Environmental Protectionstarted monitoring the environment of its northeast border regions after the test, but found that "radiation levels were normal."
