Residents and officials of Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality have vowed to implement the spirit of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and "make a clear distinction between right and wrong" after a reshuffle in various local committees.

At a meeting in Chongqing on Saturday,Zhao Leji, head of the CPC Central Committee's Organization Department, announced thatSun Zhengcaiwas removed as secretary of the CPC's Chongqing Municipal Committee, with Chen Min'er, former secretary of the CPC's Guizhou Provincial Committee, succeeding him, according to a CPC Central Committee decision.

Chongqing government officials, Party members and representatives of workers and the masses said that the changes made to the leading group of Chongqing demonstrates the high attention and care given by the CPC Central Committee with ComradeXi Jinpingas the core, local newspaper Chongqing Daily reported Monday.

"As Party cadres, we have to resolutely support the CPC Central Committee's decision, hold a firm political stance and maintain strict discipline, as well as make a clear distinction between right and wrong," the Chongqing Daily reported, citing Party members at departments including the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Development and Reform Commission of Chongqing.

Su Wei, a professor at the Party School of the Chongqing Committee of the CPC, told the Global Times on Monday that a clear distinction between right and wrong is very important for Chongqing Party members to get prepared for the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress.

"Actions in support of the implementation of the CPC Central Committee's spirit and the construction of Chongqing are crucial, while those which violate the Party's principles are destructive," Su said.

Chongqing is now in a pivotal period in completing its goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and embarking on a new journey toward socialist modernization, Chen said on Sunday when visiting retired officials of the municipality, according to the Chongqing Daily report.
