'Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series' holds publishing ceremony in Beijing

The publishing ceremony & works seminar of "Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series" was held in the Beijing Tibetology Research Center on June 20, photo from China Tibet Information Center.

"Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series" held publishing ceremony & works seminar in the China Tibetology Research Center in Beijing on June 20.

Sita, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China, Zhu Xiaoming, Party secretary of Beiing Tibetology Research Center, Ma Lihua, China Tibetology Publishing House and Xie Mian, professor with Beijing University, attended the ceremony. Ye Xiaowen, head of State Bureau of Religious Affairs and noted Chinese writer also called to congratulate the publishing of Liao's books.

"Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series" includes 10 books. Six of them, including the autobiography of Liao Dongfan-"My Tibet Story", have already published.

Liao Dongfan, has worked in Tibet since 1961 after he graduated from Beijing University. With nearly 8-years' work in Tibet, he was proficient in Tibetan language and compiled some Tibetan plays. In October 1985, Liao Dongfan was translated to Beijing to be executive secretary of China Folk Literature Writer's Association and later became head as well as chief editor of "China Tibetology".

Liao Dongfan retired from his post in 1999 and started to compile "Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series" in order to give indigenous Tibetan culture an all-around introduction, according to his personal experiences.

With large numbers of historical materials, "Liao Dongfan Tibetan Folk Culture Series" is of great cultural, academic and historical values.
